Terms of Service

Last updated: March 2, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Sentinel ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and all applicable laws and regulations. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Sentinel.

2. Description of Service

Sentinel is an AI-powered smart contract security analysis tool that scans Solidity smart contracts for known vulnerability patterns, gas optimizations, and security best practices. The Service provides automated analysis reports but does not guarantee the absence of vulnerabilities. Sentinel is a tool to assist in security analysis, not a replacement for professional auditing.

3. API Usage Terms

When using our API services, you agree to:

  • Respect rate limits as defined by your subscription tier
  • Use valid API keys and maintain their security
  • Not circumvent usage restrictions or authentication mechanisms
  • Not use the API for bulk scanning of third-party code without authorization
  • Cache results appropriately to minimize unnecessary API calls
  • Monitor your usage to ensure compliance with plan limits

4. Data Processing Agreement

When you submit smart contract code for analysis, you acknowledge that:

  • Code may be temporarily processed and analyzed by our AI systems
  • We do not store or retain your source code beyond the analysis session
  • Audit results and metadata may be retained for service improvement
  • You are solely responsible for ensuring you have rights to submit the code
  • We comply with industry-standard security practices for data handling

5. Service Level Agreement (SLA)

For paid plans, we strive to maintain:

  • 99.9% uptime availability (excluding scheduled maintenance)
  • API response times under 30 seconds for standard audits
  • Priority support response within 24 hours for Pro and Enterprise customers
  • Scheduled maintenance with at least 24 hours advance notice

SLA credits may be available for qualifying outages. Free tier usage is provided on a best-effort basis without SLA guarantees.

6. No Guarantee of Security

Sentinel's analysis is provided on an "as-is" basis. While we strive for comprehensive coverage, no automated tool can detect all possible vulnerabilities. You should not rely solely on Sentinel for security decisions. We strongly recommend supplementing automated scans with manual code review and professional auditing for high-value contracts.

Sentinel is not liable for any security breaches, exploits, or financial losses that may occur despite using our analysis services.

7. User Accounts and Authentication

Some features require creating an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information during registration
  • Maintain the confidentiality of your account credentials
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to your account
  • Not share accounts or API keys with unauthorized users
  • Accept responsibility for all activities under your account

8. Acceptable Use Policy

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any regulations
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the AI models
  • Submit malicious code designed to attack or disrupt the Service
  • Exceed rate limits or abuse the API through automated means
  • Resell, redistribute, or white-label audit reports without explicit authorization
  • Misrepresent Sentinel reports as a complete professional audit
  • Use the Service to scan code you do not have rights to analyze
  • Attempt to bypass payment requirements or subscription limitations

9. Subscription & Billing

For paid subscriptions:

  • Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance
  • You may cancel at any time through your account dashboard
  • Access continues until the end of your billing period after cancellation
  • Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis within 30 days of charge
  • We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days advance notice
  • Failed payments may result in service suspension
  • Enterprise customers may have custom billing terms

10. Intellectual Property Rights

You retain all rights to the smart contract code you submit for analysis. We do not claim ownership of your code. Audit reports generated by Sentinel are licensed to you for your use in connection with the analyzed code. The Sentinel platform, branding, AI models, and proprietary technology remain our intellectual property.

You may not use our trademarks, logos, or branding without written permission.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Sentinel, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorney fees) arising out of or relating to your use of the Service, violation of these Terms, or infringement of any third-party rights.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sentinel and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from your use of the Service. This includes, without limitation, losses arising from reliance on audit results, smart contract exploits, financial losses related to deployed contracts, or service interruptions.

Our total liability to you for all claims shall not exceed the amount paid by you for the Service in the twelve months preceding the claim.

13. Dispute Resolution and Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Delaware, United States. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service will be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the Commercial Arbitration Rules of the American Arbitration Association. You agree to waive any right to a jury trial or class action.

14. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that the remainder of these Terms will remain in full force and effect.

15. Force Majeure

Sentinel will not be liable for any failure or delay in performance due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, natural disasters, war, terrorism, labor disputes, or government actions.

16. Third-Party Services

Our Service may integrate with or rely upon third-party services (such as cloud providers, payment processors, or authentication services). We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or content of these third-party services. Your use of such services may be subject to additional terms.

17. Export Control

You acknowledge that the Service may be subject to export control laws and regulations. You agree to comply with all applicable export control laws and not to export, re-export, or transfer the Service to any prohibited countries, individuals, or entities.

18. Modifications to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time to reflect changes in our Service, legal requirements, or business practices. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification at least 30 days in advance.

19. Termination

We may terminate your access to the Service at any time for violation of these Terms or for any other reason. You may terminate your account at any time. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately, though these Terms will continue to apply to your prior use.

20. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Sentinel regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements and understandings, whether written or oral.
